New iPhone 4 dropped in the toilet.

Literally just bought the phone about two weeks ago, if that. I was at a party last night and went to use the restroom and of course the phone dropped in the toilet for about 3 seconds. (estimated guess) I tried turning it on and it worked. Then I tried one more time to double check and the screen went blank. The phone was at 7% battery so I figured it could have shut off for a combination of those two factors. It was in rice all night and I checked again this morning to power it up and still no response. Should I just leave it in rice for a couple of days.
My MacBook Pro went through very bad water damage and my father left it in a large bin of rice for about 4 to 5 days and it is now working perfectly fine. We tried powering up my laptop many times as well before we went to Apple to see what the issue was.
Is there any positive outlooks that come from this scenario or is it time to buy another new iPhone?

Putting it in the rice immediatly BEFORE turning it on may have saved it, but the fact you immediatly turned it oh has more than likely fried it.
Do you have Apple Care Plus?  If not, you should go to Apple and do an out of warranty exchange.  I am afraid the phone is probably toast.  Warranty will not cover this.
