Is the iPad 2 unlocked?

Help, someone:  Is the iPad 2 (3G) unlocked?  Meaning if I take it to Australia on a trip, can I put a locally bought SIM card into the slot and have it work like a US SIM card would in the US?  Thanks.   Cliff

The GSM/3G iPad is not sold as carrier locked.
If a GSM carrier in another country provides a data plan only for a device like the iPad along with a micro-SIM card, you should be able to use it with a GSM/3G iPad purchased in the U.S.

i forgot my passcode for the ipad and i can't connect to iTunes because it keeps giving me error message that i have to unlcok the ipad first... any advice on how to restore the ipad or unlock it?

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
This will tell you how to restore

You will probably need to use recovery mode

  • STUCK IN GUIDED ACCESS ON IPAD. TRIPLE-CLICKING AND FORCER REBOOTS DON'T WORK, THE IPAD JUST UNLOCKS ITSELF AND GOES BACK TO THE APP I WAS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuck in Guided Access on iPad. iOS 7!
    - Triple-clicking won't work, the Accessibility Options pop-up and I tap Guided Access, it unticks, but no passcode input screen comes up, and the iPad stays in guided access.
    - Forced reboots don't work, the iPad just unlocks it self (no lock code) and goes back to the app that I am stuck in, which is Google Chrome.
    - Lost Mode is not an option, location services are off.
    - When I plug it into my computer, iTunes says that it is locked with a passcode, so I can't back it up.
There seems like no possible way to get out.
    Help!?

If you are prepare to wipe your iPad.
    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...

  • Is the ipad mini unlocked?

    is the ipad mini unlocked?

Thanks--another poster linked to the Apple site where it says that the mini can accept FOREIGN sims.  However, when I looked at the same description for the ipad 2 it did not say that.  I'll be taking the mini, anyway, so it should not be a problem.
My experience with talking to AT&T on the phone is that they are woefully misinformed.  They told me I could give up my $5 iphone text package because I use mainly imessages, and get it back any time I needed.  When I wanted to get it back, they said the minimum package now cost $30/mo.  I've GOT to get away from AT&T!

  • Is the ipad 1 unlocked for 3g use in foreign countries?

Is the ipad 1 unlocked for 3g use in foreign countries (not the USA)?

no if you have a ipad that is carrier specific you need to contact your carrier and get it unlocked

  • Is the ipad air unlocked

I am looking at the purchase of ipad air wifi/4G .   I currently have AT&T for my ipad 3 with unlimited and no contract.  I was told the best to get would be a unlocked for travel or use on another month to month network.   Please advise

Here's the deal. After update to 7.0.6 malfunction still exists. But I have a new fact. I am European so from time to time I have switched interface language from English to my native one. It turned out, in my native mode, rotation works flawlessly. Today I changed back to English and the problem struck back (keyboard is still in native language mode). It's crazy, I know how it sounds, but non the less, these events somehow corresponds with each other. Maybe...
I think that Apple shoud also check code responsible for turning off apps in landscape mode, because sometimes after swiping out some of them, rotation ceases to work.

  • Is the ipad 2 3g locked or not??????

    Hi,
I'm planning to buy an ipad2 with 3g, I live in the US but next year I will move back to Germany, so I need to know if I can use my ipad with a german carrier.
I can find online both answers (yes the at&t modell will work the ipad is unlocked, and no the us ipads are locked to att or verizon) and now I don't know what to believe. In my apple store I asked two diffrent men and one said locked and one said unlocked!!!!!Please help!

If you don't believe what you are being told here, don't buy the iPad. We are users and many are posting from experience. Your statement "...When I buy it and it doesn't work with a German sim what can I do?" indicates that you are unsure whether to believe it will work or not. There is nothing you can do except return the iPad where you bought it.
I suggest you wait until someone else you know in Germany buys one. Then you can see if it works or not. You appear to not believe what you are being told here.
I also suggest you search these forums where you'll find 10s if not hundreds of posts where people have bought AT&T iPads for use in other countries that use GSM.

  • My ipad is locked as i forgot the pincode  when i plug it into either of my laptops my laptop doesnt recognise it and says it is locked by code and needs to be unlocked  but the ipad says it needs to be restored and connected to itunes

I am lost and not sure what to do now.  I locked my ipad which tells me to connect to to itunes.  When I connect to either of my laptops it tells me that my ipad is locked and needs to have the code unlocked yet the ipad says to to go itunes as it is disabled.   My laptops do not recognise my ipad.  What do I do now ?

1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • I switched on the voice over at its minimum rate and now i am not able to slide the screen and unlock it, i switched on the voice over in ipad 2 ios 6 at its minimum rate and now i am not able to slide the screen and unlock it

i switched on the voice over at its minimum rate and now i am not able to slide the screen and unlock it, i switched on the voice over in ipad 2 ios 6 at its minimum rate and now i am not able to slide the screen and unlock it  please advise

You should be able to turn it off on the iPad by using 'a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process' and 3 fingered scrolling to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn it 'off' (so to use the 'slide to unlock' tap the slider and then double-tap it, and to type your passcode tap a digit and then double-tap it etc), or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4064

  • Auto Lock/Unlock is not working when the iPad cover is closed or opened for iPad 4 with retina display after upgrading to ios7.

As the title above, is there any solutions for that? I tried restarting my Ipad and i've double checked the auto lock/unlock button is on.

I have the same problem also.  Restarting isn't helping and the auto lock/unlock button is on.  Plus a couple of time when I turn it on it is asking if I want to power off.  That is when I push the button on the front to wake it up.  Not the power button on top.  I have an IPAd 2. Worked fine before the update.

  • My uncle has died and we are trying to access his iPad but don't know his code so the iPad is disabled. Can we unlock it without resetting the device as we don't know if he's backed it up our not and don't want to lose whatever he has on there?

My uncle passed away recently and we are trying to access his iPad but don't know his code so the iPad is disabled. Can we unlock it without having to reset it as we don't know if he's backed anything up and we don't want to lose whatever is on there... thanks in advance.

About all you can do is take the device to an Apple Store along with the death certificate and explain the situation...if someone can do something, it would be them.

  • I never set a passcode for my iPad but it is locked and I can't get it unlocked.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  How do I get it unlocked?

I never set up a passcode for my iPad 2 but it is locked and I can't unlock it.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  Any suggestions on how to unlock it?

You have to slide to unlock to bring up the keyboard if a passcode is set. If you can't slide then try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • I have activated the passcode lock on my iPad sometimes ago and now I forgot it, I entered several passcode but did not work, now the iPad is disabled and would not connect to iTunes. What can I do to unlock my iPad

I have activated the passcode lock on my iPad sometimes ago and now I foregot it, I entered several passcode but non was correct, now the iPad nis disabled and would not connect to the iTunes. what can be done to unlock my iPad?

If you've forgotten the passcode then you will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

    Hi mChelle,
Follow the instructions that best apply to your situation in the link below:

Oh - I see that you have that article linked to your post above. Read the entire paragraph in item #1. It tells you what to do if it is asking for a passcode.

  • My iPad is disabled after entering many wrong passcodes by my kid, and is asking me now to connect to iTunes to get enabled again (unlocked), however when I connect to iTunes, it asks me to first unlock the iPad? what is the solution

my iPad is disabled after entering many wrong passcodes by my kid, and is asking me now to connect to iTunes to get enabled again (unlocked), however when I connect to iTunes, it asks me to first unlock the iPad? what is the solution

You need to place the device in recovery mode ...
f you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Instructions for putting the device in recovery mode > iOS: Unable to update or restore
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present
