Charging ipod touch in Europe

Hey everybody!!! I am going to Europe soon..(Ukraine) and i am taking my ipod touch with me. But then i realize that i would not be able to charge it cuz we have different outlets. Well the point is that i think wall mart sells Europe outlets, or if not i could charge my ipod off my uncles computer in Ukraine. My question is will chargening my ipod in Europ demage it or burn it because European countries have outlets have 220V power and in USa its 110.
THanks!

It's 100-240 volts.
You need an adapter, but it can handle that voltage range.

Yes. You can also use an iPad charger too if you have one.

  • Cannot charge ipod touch (3G) with wall charger, only using MAC.

I've had my Ipod Touch for over a year. Suddenly yesterday the device will not charge with either a wall (a/c) charger or a car charger. I have two wall chargers and neither one works. It will only charge when plugged into a usb port on my MAC computers. I took it into a Genious Bar today, a both of the employees there replicated my problem, but had no clue why it is doing this. They also verified that both of my wall chargers function properly. Any ideas?

Ah!  I am having the same problem!  All charging methods were working fine, and all of a sudden only the computer charger works.  I've got two cables, and both charge via computer, and neither charge via the wall or car charger.  The connection automatically starts the iPod, but charging does not occur.  Have you resolved this issue yet?  Thanks!

  • Charging iPod touch with old AC-Firewire adapter?

    Hello,
I just recently bought an iPod touch, and wanted to know if it will work to charge it with the AC-Firewire adapter from my 2nd gen iPod. I also have the car charger for the 2nd gen. There are posts about doing it with an AC-usb adapter, but I didn't find anything about Firewire.
If no one knows, will it hurt to try it? I just don't want to screw up my new one. Thanks for the help.

Charging the iPod touch with FireWire is not possible.
Plugging it in won't hurt it but it will pop up a message saying that it will not charge.

  • Wall and/or Car charging iPod Touch 32GB with cell phone/other USB charger

I know the "stock" answer is to buy an iPod compatible charger for my $300 device, but while traveling, it's nice to pack less gadget chargers and more gadgets
Can I safely charge my iPod Touch with my LG Phone charger ("5.1V - .07A" output)?
I also have a wall charger for my Flip Video ("+5VDC, 1A(5W)")
Does anyone have the specs for an Apple brand iPod Touch 32GB charger?
    Thanks!!

My experience is that you just have to try 3rd party USB chargers. Some work, some don't, and it doesn't appear to just be the power specs. I had a 3rd party charger that ran my iPod 5G video just fine, but didn't work on my Touch 32GB (1st gen). My Apple charger is 5 volts/1 Ampere, as is my Kensington that also works.
You might mention what generation your IPT 32GB is, in case someone knows of some difference.

  • MacBook Pro not charging iPod Touch 4G!

Hello. Today I plugged in my iPod Touch 4th Generation into my 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and it started charging, but about 15 seconds later it would stop charging it and I would have to unplug it and then plug it to charge it again. I grew suspicious that something was wrong with my iPod and not my Mac, but when I plugged my iPod into an outlet, it charged all the way with no problems. Is something in my MacBook denying the charging of my iPod Touch 4G and how do I fix it??
I also don't want this to effect syncing issues as well, and converting music to iTunes from my iPod.

Did you tried rebooting the Mac?
    Tried another USB port?
    Did it work OK before?
When the Mac sleeps the USB ports will not charge the iPod.

  • Charging iPod Touch

I have an iPod touch 16gb (if that matters at all..) and when i plug it in a wall charger or a car charger it doesn't charge. In fact the only method of charging it is trough the computer.
I tried charging an ipod nano 2g and it charges!
And i tried an ipod nano 3g and it DOESN'T charge neither...
Im thinking that it has to be with the newer ipod (the ones that include "full" Mac OS X inside...
can anyone help me out with this, im trying to charge my ipod touch AWAY from a computer.

I have the brand new Ipod Touch 32 GB (2nd Gen) and charge it on my MacBook (10.4.11 intel).
But I was looking for a way of charging it away from the laptop
I have the old charge block from my 4G iPod (b/w, no video, ie Old) and tried that, it's a Firewire plug. I got a message on iPod Touch screen telling me the charger wasn't compatible or something.
Then tried charging on my iMac (PPC G5 OS-10.4.11). The iPod didn't show up on the screen and on the iPod the battery didn't show it was charging. I don't know if the charge block did some damage or if it just won't charge on the iMac-PPC.
Finally plugged it back into the MacBook and even tho' it showed up in iTunes, it didn't charge.
By now the power was very low so I "restored" it with iTunes which also downloaded 2.1.1.
(iTunes will save the settings if you choose that in the Advanced pane of iTunes Prefs.).
Following the Restore It now seems to be charging...
I only give you all these details in case it helps someone.
BUT how can I be sure it will "accept" the iMac-PPC or another method of charging?
(I do understand the old iPod charger will not work)
    Thank you!

  • When you charge fully charged ipod touch, does energy go to system or battery then system?

I recently bought a new ipod. Whenever it's on full battery and I hook it up to my laptop or wall charger, does it charge the battery then go to the system (overkilling the battery) or does it go straight to the system, increasing the battery life?

    Not Charge

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

  • Is possible to charge Ipod touch 4th with Ipad 2 wall charger?

    Hi to all !!
Just wondering if it's possible to use Ipad 2 wall charger to charge my Ipod touch 4th generation...
    Any help?
    Thanks!!

Yes you can do that without problems.
The other way around (charging iPad with iPod Touch charger) will not work because the wall charger of the iPod Touch does not deliver enough power for the iPad.

  • Bose SoundDock will not charge ipod touch

I bought a Bose sound dock to charge my 80gb ipod  with video a few years ago. Apple has changed the pin layout and my new ipod touch will play, but not charge on the sound dock.  Does anyone know if I can change the pins or buy a crossover cable?  Love the sound of my new ipod touch on the dock, but without charging ability, it does not last long.

Could it be that your 80GB iPod used Firewire?  Older iPods did.  Firewire uses 12 volts whereas the modern iDevices use USB which is 5 volts.  I am afraid that any change is configuration would damage either the Dock or the iPod.

looks like you are one of the lucky few in the apple charger lottery (read the first review) in the link below
    http://ipod.accessories.me.uk/product.php?ASIN=B000IK5XWW
That must be an old model. Note it refers to Apple part number MA592LL/A. The model I mentioned came out AFTER the 2G was released and works great.
for what is effectively a wall plug
WRONG - it's a regulated power supply that furnishes regulated 5.0VDC. There are cheap power adapters available that use a diode and a couple of resistors to step down the AC voltage BUT I WOULD NEVER use such a device!
